2009 Summer Art Camp Overview

Hibel Museum of Art Summer Camp 2009

Instructors: Patricia Trotter (retired after 36 years of teaching elementary art in New Jersey) and Charlene Lightman (currently elementary art teacher in Palm Beach County School District).

The HMA 2009 Summer Camp Program will teach basic to advanced techniques of Drawing and Painting, (depending on your child's level). The Drawing and Painting will cover multimedia instruction on use of materials, technique, perceptive and exercises to improve artistic ability. Using the elements of art, there will be a focus on different countries/continents and their unique styles or art forms. 

 

Supplies are included with the cost of the camp as well as two daily snacks.  Students must provide their own lunch.

            The Daily Schedule will be as follows:

                           8:30-9 am.       Campers Arrive                                                                              .

                           9am                  Camp Begins in the FAU Hibel Art Building Room #103

(Located directly across the circle from the museum's front doors)

10:30 am--Snack and Outdoor Break (15 minutes)

12:00 pm--Lunch and Break (30 minutes)

2:00 pm--Snack and Outdoor Break (15 minutes)

3:30 pm--Parents pick up students

 

Week One-June 8-12  Charlene Lightman

Drawing and Painting focusing on Japan and Asian Cultures

Week Two-June 15-19   Charlene Lightman

Drawing and Painting focusing on Islands of the World

Week Three-June 22-26   Pat Trotter

Drawing and Painting focusing on Mexico, Brazil, and other Latin American countries

Week Four-June 29-July 3   Pat Trotter

Drawing and Painting focusing on the Middle East and Asian countries not covered in Week One

Week Five- July 6-10   Pat Trotter

Drawing and Painting focusing on European countries such as France, Italy, and Spain

Week Six-July 13-17   Pat Trotter

Drawing and Painting focusing on Canada and United States

Week Seven--July 20-24  Charlene Lightman

Drawing and Painting focusing on African art

Week Eight—July 27-31  Charlene Lightman

Drawing and Painting focusing on Australian art

July 31--Afternoon luncheon and art reception for all campers from the 8 week program with Ms. Edna Hibel

All Students will receive:

Tour of Museum on Monday of each week of camp

A brief introduction to Edna Hibel (her life, work & philosophy by Museum Director or Asst. Director) Art Instruction from certified  art teachers

Homework (Optional)

Encouragement to pursue artistic interests

Displayed work in Hibel Museum of Art at the end of class

 

There will be an "exhibit reception" held at the end of the last class, July 31st. All students, parents and their guests are invited to the museum for a special viewing of the campers' art work. One work of art per student per week will be displayed during the reception and remain on "exhibit' at the museum until August 7, 2009. Ms. Edna Hibel will be invited to meet the children, see their works of art on display, and answer their questions.

 

 

 

 

The Hibel Museum of Art is a non profit 501 [c]3 corporation.  It is a private museum and operates solely on donations and sales from the Hibel Museum of Art gift shop.  With out donations from our generous supporters we can not keep our doors open.  If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to the Hibel Museum of Art please contact one of the museum staff members.  We thank you for your continued support.
