“WaldseeExhibit”

January 2, - March 30, 2007

As Hungary’s Jews were deported to a certain death in Auschwitz, the Nazis approached the victims with a last demand: they were required to write the following lines to their loved ones: “We are doing well  here; we have work and we are well treated. We await your arrival.”  Whole families arrived to be taken to the fictitious town of Waldsee as a result of the postcards. Seventy artists from around the world were asked to create art  with their canvas be no larger than a postcard. The diversity of media, and the emotions of subject matter, turns this unique exhibit into a startlingly  personal affair. A must see exhibit to remind us of the terrors of war .

Laura Kruger Curator will be at the museum on February 18 from 2-4

Along with Laura will be individuals that lived this nightmare and will tell how they survived and what is happening in their lives today.

A special thank you goes to
